ILOILO City – Losing control of the brakes while negotiating a downhill stretch of the road turned fatal for a truck driver in Barangay Igcabugao, Igbaras, Iloilo.
The 47-year-old Melchor Eder Erasmo of Tagpuan, Tubungan, Iloilo was killed after the truck he was driving crashed into a riprap around 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 6, police said.
His companions, on the other hand, sustained injuries on the body and were rushed to the Western Visayas Medical Center in Mandurriao district for treatment. Police identified them as Vellijo Deocampo, 26, of Barangay Abong, Carles, Iloilo; Mark Depamaylo Surita, 29, of Barangay Bandol Pabrica, Dumangas, Iloilo and Ian Mark Cantolay Impas, 20, of Barangay Igtuble, Tubungan.
The truck, loaded with sand and gravel, was bound for Antique.
Officers of the Igbaras police station were still investigating the incident./PN
