ILOILO – Six fugitives, including three top provincial-level wanted individuals, were arrested by tracker teams of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) during a series of manhunt operations across the province on Tuesday, September 1.
The 24-hour operation targeted wanted persons in the municipalities of Leganes, Guimbal, Pavia, and Dueñas.
In Leganes, operatives led by Police Captain General Enrique V. Robles served arrest warrants against three provincial-level most wanted persons (MWPs). They were identified as aliases “Verly,” 38, of Dumangas, Iloilo (ranked No. 2); “Tita Ann,” 40, of New Lucena, Iloilo (ranked No. 3); and “Rose,” 44, of Arevalo, Iloilo City (ranked No. 4).
The arrest warrants for qualified trafficking in persons under Republic Act (RA) 9208, as amended by RA 10364 (Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act) was issued by the Regional Trial Court (RTC), Sixth Judicial Region, Branch 5 in Iloilo City. No bail was recommended for their temporary liberty.
Meanwhile, three other municipal tracker teams apprehended three more local fugitives.
Officers of the Guimbal Municipal Police Station (MPS) caught alias “Bobot,” 44, listed as the town’s No. 1 most wanted for lascivious conduct under RA 7610. Bail was set at P200,000 by RTC Branch 67 in Guimbal.
In Pavia, alias “Rex,” 33, a butcher temporarily residing in the town’s Barangay Ungka 2, was nabbed on a no-bail warrant for rape issued by RTC Branch 63 in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental.
Also collared was the top most wanted person in Dueñas. Alias “Je,” 24, a vendor, is facing rape charges in relation to RA 7610.
IPPO director Police Colonel Bayani M. Razalan commended the operating units and recognized public support in tracking down the suspects.
“These accomplishments demonstrate our unwavering commitment to public safety and the rule of law,” Razalan said. “We will continue to intensify our campaign against wanted persons across the province to ensure that justice is served and that our communities remain safe and secure.”
All six suspects were detained at their respective municipal police stations for documentation pending turnover to their courts of origin./PN
