CARMONA, Cavite – Kaya Futbol Club-Iloilo was forced to a scoreless draw by Green Archers United FC in the 2019 Philippines Football League on Saturday at the PFF Training Center here.

Even with the outcome, the Ilonggos remained on top of the standings with 16 points on five wins and a draw, while Green Archers United is at fourth spot with 11 points after seven games.

Yannick Tuazon has been aggressive early for Kaya Iloilo with four early chances but was either misdirected or was foiled by the defense. Marvin Angeles had an opportunity to score for Green Archers but he was blocked by Kaya’s keeper Louie Casas.

Green Archers had another opportunity courtesy of Jimuel Ariola but misfired his try from the edge of the box. Eric Giganto nearly surged Kaya-Iloilo ahead at the half but his curl hit from outside the box just hit the crossbar.

Ilonggo Jovin Bedic was inserted by Kaya Iloilo head coach Noel Marcaida in the second half in hopes of breaking the deadlock but the defense were firm on him. Jordan Mintah got a try from the outside but went wide.

Kaya Iloilo made its last push in the final minutes but Mintah’s hit from Chy Villasenor’s pass was wide, while Darryl Roberts had his last chance for the Ilonggos but his header was saved by the defense.

Meanwhile, the match between defending champions Ceres-Negros FC and Stallion-Laguna FC scheduled on Saturday afternoon at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium has been postponed to a later date due to inclement weather./PN
