ILOILO – A non-governmental organization survey cited best-performing district representatives in Western Visayas.
The RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc. (RPMD) “Boses ng Bayan” is an independent, non-commissioned nationwide survey per district in every region regarding the overall performance of district representatives.
Dr. Paul Martinez, executive director of RPMD, said the ratings and rankings of each district representative were determined by their constituents based on the following criteria: “representation, legislation, and constituent service.”
In the region, 3rd District congressman Lorenz Defensor of Iloilo Province emerged as the top-performing with a 92 percent job performance rating.
Defensor thanked Ilonggos for recognizing his service.
“An inspiring start to the New Year because our work has been recognized. Salamat Iloilo and 3rd District kay No. 1 kita sa Region 6,” he said.
Sharing the second place with 90 percentage performance rating were congressmen Raul Tupas of Iloilo (District 5), Antonio Legarda Jr. of Antique (Lone District) and Jose Francisco Benitez of Negros Occidental (District 3).
With a performance rating of 89 percent, Cong. Teodorico Haresco of Aklan (District 2) placed third.
Cong. Janette Garin of Iloilo (District 1), meanwhile, received 87 percent performance rating from her constituents to rank fourth.
Cong. Juliet Marie Ferrer of Negros Occidental (District 4) placed fifth with a performance rating of 86 percent.
Below were the other Top 10 best performing representatives in the region”
- Alfredo Marañon III of Negros Occidental (District 2) – 85 percent
- Ma. Lucille Nava of Guimaras (Lone District) – 83 percent
- Mercedes “Cheding” Alvarez of Negros Occidental (District 6) – 82 percent
- Michael Gorriceta of Iloilo (District 2) – 81 percent
- Greg Gasataya of Bacolod (Lone District) – 80 percent.
Conducted from Nov. 27, 2022, to Dec. 2, 2022, a total of 10,000 respondents were asked, “Do you approve or disapprove of the way [name of District Representative] is handling his/her job as Congressman/Congresswoman?”
The survey margin of error was plus or minus one percent./PN
