SAN JOSE, Antique – A total of 102,752 learners have enrolled in different schools in this province as of July 3, the Department of Education (DepEd) announced.

DepEd-Antique superintendent Dr. Felisa Beriong said more learners have registered in the ongoing modified enrollment of the agency through the assistance of local government units and media in the information dissemination.
“We hope that other students would also be able to enroll now,” she added.

For students who have yet to register, the DepEd has extended the enrollment until July 15.

“I still don’t know if DepEd will still continue the enrollment after July 15,” Beriong stressed, adding that it is important for students to beat the modified regular enrollment deadline.

There are 6,885 kinder pupils enrolled in both public and private schools in this province, lower compared with last school year’s 11,554 pupils.

“There are also 50,923 Grade I pupils who are now enrolled,” Beriong said. Last school year, 78,319 learners attended Grade I.

For the Junior High School, 31,394 students have enrolled as compared to last year’s 52,291. For Senior High School, there are 13,304 enrolled learners as compared to the 19,370 in the previous school year.

“There are also 246 learners with disabilities who have enrolled,” she said.

Last July 1, Gov. Rhodora Cadiao said children should not miss school this year. She is happy that DepEd has extended the enrollment period. (With a report from PNA/PN)
