ILOILO – Around 60 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P408,000 were seized from a 24-year-old student in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Tabunan, Lemery, Iloilo over the weekend.
Authorities identified the suspect as alias “Boyboy”, a resident of Villa, Iloilo City. He was classified as a high-value suspect.
Join operatives of the Lemery Municipal Police Station (MPS), 2nd Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company, and Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s Provincial Intelligence Unit and Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit Team 3 carried out the operation at 9:10 p.m. on Saturday, August 23.
Confiscated from the suspect were three plastic sachets of suspected shabu, buy-bust money, and non-drug-related items.
The suspect is now under police custody, facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Police Regional Office 6 director Brigadier General Josefino D. Ligan lauded the operating units for their dedication in sustaining the campaign against illegal drugs.
“This arrest of alias ‘Boyboy’ demonstrates our firm commitment to rid Western Visayas of illegal drugs. I urge the public, especially the youth, to stay away from this menace and instead help us build a safer and drug-free community,” he added./PN
