MANILA – University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses completed a sweep of the elimination round of the UAAP Season 82 women’s beach volleyball at the Sands SM By The Bay in Pasay City.
The pair of Babylove Barbon and Gen Eslapor secured the No. 1 ranking in the Final Four on Wednesday after a 21-16, 21-18 sweep of De La Salle University Lady Spikers’ Ernestine Tiamzon and Justine Nazareno.
The Golden Tigresses finished the elimination round with 7-0 win-loss slate, while the Lady Spikers at second with 6-1 record. Both teams have twice-to-beat advantage in the semis on Saturday.
No. 3 seed Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws of Sheena Gallantes and Sheila Mae Kiseo cruised to a 21-13, 21-19 win over University of the East Lady Warriors’ Juliet Catindig and Donna Mae Nebrea for its fifth victory in seven matches.
Ilongga Roma Mae Doromal and Pauline Gaston of Ateneo Lady Eagles completed the semifinals casts with a 21-17, 21-19 victory over Adamson University Lady Falcons’ Kring Uy and Chen Ave.
University of the Philippines Lady Maroons’ Roselyn Rosier and Euri Eslapor overpowered National University Lady Bulldogs’ Andrea Abian and Chlea dela Fuente, 21-6, 21-3, to end their campaign on a winning note.
The Lady Maroons, third placer in the last two seasons, was eliminated after the Lady Eagles defeated the Lady Falcons to avoid playoff complications./PN
