Western Visayas dads back bridge linking Panay, Guimaras, Negros

ILOILO City – The Provincial Board Members League (PBML) in Western Visayas pushed the construction of the bridge that would connect the islands of Panay, Guimaras and Negros Occidental.

The establishment of the bridge will lead to a region that is “more cohesive and united,” PBML elected president and Iloilo 4th District board member Domingo Oso said.

Oso underscored this in a media interview on Monday, saying the league will push for important measures that will ensure the development in the region.

“We will request board members from the different provinces of Region 6 to pass a resolution trying to request the national government to push through with the plan of establishing the bridge connecting Iloilo and Guimaras, Guimaras and Negros Occidental,” Oso said.

The PBML has a new set of key officials after an election was held at Casa Real de Iloilo over the weekend.

According to OSO, the PBML will strengthen the brotherhood and camaraderie of legislators in the region. The organization of board members will also pave the way to trainings and capacity building in legislation for the benefit of the region.

“We will push to hasten the move to unite Region 6 and for that way, we can foster friendship and at least, that is one way in developing Region 6 as one region,” Oso said.

On Sunday, the board members had a tour of the southern part of Iloilo province to identify aspects that need legislative support.

“We went to historical sites for the board members to see what is best for the province,” he said.

The PBML is set to have a strategic planning on paramount concerns not only for Iloilo province but for the whole region as well.

Other PBML officials in Region 6 are Antique board member Errol Santillan as vice chairman; Guimaras board member Cyril Beltral as secretary general; Iloilo board member Marcelo Valentin Serag as regional treasurer; Negros Occidental board member Rita Angela as public relations officer; and Aklan board member Edsel Flores as regional auditor.
